DO WHAT YOU LOVE

Being creative is something that stems from within and is ultimately the easiest hardest thing one can do. To create something from nothing and then find a way to project your voice to the masses in hopes for somebody to hear you is no easy feat. Add a self-sufficient monetary aspect to that and you’ll find yourself face to face with an equation that very few ever truly solve. As I dive deeper into the progression of my own career, or shall I say, a drunken drug infused hobby that somehow turned into a living, I constantly find myself asking if I’m still happy. Sure, when I was broke and living a crazy life taking photos and not giving a shit about money or the infrastructure that one needs to build for themselves in order to financially be able to live a decent life, shit was amazing. Scary, but nevertheless amazing. I took photos of everything and anything and could care less if I was getting paid or ‘likes’, and I’m not even talking about the social media kind. But unless you come from money, every creative at some point comes face to face with the inevitable question, “how do I do what I love, stay true to who I am and turn my point of view into a fruitful career?”. I’ve been taking photos for eight years now and I still battle with that question because as I get older the only thing I strive for is more stability which equals less stress. The truth is, we all at some point will hit  financial tribulations and will have to take on projects that may feel like we’re jeopardizing our integrity. So we do these fucked up jobs and feel like shit about them (you know, the kind you never post or tell anyone you did). I have come to the conclusion that in order to be somebody with a presence in this over saturated shithole of a pool that we’re all swimming in, you must try to take every opportunity to turn any project into your own. If you don’t feel the company or product aligns with your personal or creative views, fuck it, place it into your life in a way that is true then capture it through your view point and charge the client accordingly. See, when all is said and done, we’re only on this earth for a fraction of a second. Why the fuck should we live it unhappy or stressed. Create daily in a way that coincides with your moral compass and be passionate about everything you do. Passion should be at the forefront of everything you create and fuck everyone and everything that tries to steer you away from what you hold in your heart. Fall in love with your medium. Be curious and ambitious and do things that move others. Tell your story the way you feel it should be told and the let universe take care of the rest.
