C, didn’t think she was creative because she’s the brain in the family, a degree from UCLA and another from Pepperdine. Major flex. When we first met I thought she had a very artsy vibe and knew there was something there. Little by little I’ve been letting her shoot the b-roll for my Youtube and even some photos, which at first were trash (sorry, babe). The more she does it, the more she’s been getting the hang of it. Yesterday I wanted to see if she could shoot me exactly how I would photograph someone because I needed to produce client content. I set up the camera for her and holy shit, she actually did it. It’s so rad to know that now we can output content whenever we need to without having to ask someone for help. And let’s face it, I am definitely not a model and refuse to let someone other than myself take photos of me but it’s awesome to now have the person I trust most be able to take snapshots and keep the integrity of my images the way I want them. Dream team.

I want to say it’s been over two years since I departed the photography world, in terms of working with clients, but lately I’ve been feeling so inspired to dust off the camera and get back into the swing of things. Which is oddly serendipitous that it just so happens to be at time when companies are reaching out to send me products or asking if I would like to work on photo projects for them. The girl and I have been bringing my camera everywhere so I can remember just how much I love creating images.

We’re trying to be mindful of what’s going on in our current climate all while navigating a new relationship. We decided that Saturdays would be our day to do the shopping and grab whatever stuff we might need for the week. It’s becoming routine that we hit Shoppe Amber, French, grab vegan cheese at the Calabasas farmers market and then get groceries at Trader Joes and Whole Foods. It’s a solid routine that allows us to spend time together outside and enjoy fresh air all while getting the things that we need. Stay safe, we still aren’t out of the storm.

If you go anywhere in Calabasas and look down at peoples choice of footwear, nine out of ten times you’ll see them wearing a pair of Golden Goose® sneakers. I’ve always thought they looked cute on girls but I started noticing even most of the ‘basas dads were wearing them. I couldn’t understand the fascination with these purposely beat up, dirty, shoes so I decided to buy a pair and see what the hype was all about. So, is it worth the insane price tag for a pair of shoes that look exactly like something you would find in the Goodwill bins? Youtube video coming soon.

It’s finally here, Episode 003 of the SS/OUND WAVES® podcast. This is the first time that we’ve done a podcast together and I think the dynamic is really interesting. The fact that there’s a female and male point of view wasn’t something that I thought would steer the conversation but it totally did and turned our subject matter into a freestyle dialogue with depth. I’ve been obsessed with vintage Harley-Davidson® crewneck sweatshirts from the late 80’s/early 90’s and Hedi era Dior® Homme. As much as I love to dress “grown up” there’s a vintage uniform aspect to my style that I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of because I feel like I always end up revisiting this particular vibe in my wardrobe. There’s something fulfilling about giving new life to beat up rare and designer garments.

I found a lovely pair of Hedi era Dior® Homme bootcut velvet pants on eBay for a ridiculous price. I acted fast and bought them right away without paying close attention to the description because I was so excited about the purchase. When they got delivered today I noticed they were a forest green color and not black like I thought. That’s completely my fault but its nothing that a little dying project can’t fix. Sometimes you need to take matters into your own hands and create the look you want, especially when finding beautiful pieces for an absurdly underestimated price. I’ll post the results in the next Deals & Steals video.
